Some material belongs to the whole course, not to one module: the syllabus, the schedule, course policies, a textbook link, a course-wide template. Course Files keeps them with the course. Open it from Course Status → 📚 Course Files…, or from the last step of Import and Classify Content.
Adding
- 📄 Add Files… copies one or more files into the course. Your originals are not changed or moved.
- Add a link: type or paste a web address (it starts with
https://), give it a title if you like, and press 🔗 Add Link (or Enter). An address already listed is not added again — the window says so. - Import ▾ → Import and Classify Content puts here anything you send to The whole course (Course Files).
Using
- Open (or a double-click) opens a file in its program, or a link in your browser.
- 📂 Show in Folder shows the selected file in File Explorer; with nothing selected, it opens the course files folder.
- Rename (or F2, or a click on a selected title) changes an item's title.
- Remove… takes an item off the list and deletes the course's copy of the file. The original, wherever it came from, is not touched.
Where they are kept
In the course's folder, under course_files, with the list in course_files.json
(see How CourseBuilder+ organizes your course files).
Course files are not yet part of the course website or the course export; they are kept so that nothing course-wide has to be forced into a module.
