Course Status and the Course Topic Report

A summary of the whole course — and the place to work on four things that belong to the course as a whole, plus a report of its topics. Open it from the Course Manager with Course Status & Outcomes….

The rows at the top

Row What it shows The button opens
Course Outcomes how many course outcomes the course has, or "No course outcomes yet" 🎯 Enter Course Outcomes… (Edit Course Outcomes… once there are some) — write, edit or generate the course-level learning outcomes
Outcome Alignment how many module outcomes are mapped to course outcomes 🔗 Outcome Alignment… — map each module's outcomes to the course outcomes they support
Accessibility n of m modules checked, which have new material since their check, and any violations still to fix ♿ Check Accessibility… — checks this course's own pages, documents, quizzes and links against WCAG 2.1 AA (the ADA Title II standard), writes a report, and opens the Fix Workbench, which fixes the course's own files
Course Files how many files and links belong to the whole course (never a warning — a course needs none) 📚 Course Files… — the syllabus, schedule, policies and other course-wide files and links: add, open, remove
Topic Report how many modules, topics and subtopics the course has, and how many modules have no topics yet 📋 Course Topic Report… — one page that lists every module, its topics and their subtopics, numbered (1, 1.1, 1.1.1) in course order. No AI is used: it is read from each module's Module Topics. It is saved in the course folder as course_topic_report.html, so you can open it in a browser, print it or share it (to print, click Open in Browser in the window that shows it and print from the browser). It is made again each time you click the button, so change topics in each module's Module Topics, not in the report

The first row that needs attention has the filled button — that is the thing to do next.

When is a module "checked"? When an accessibility check has been run on it and nothing new has been generated in it since. Generate a new document, activity or presentation in a module and it counts as not checked until the next check — the row says how many new artifacts there are and ends "run Check Accessibility again". Changing material that was already checked, narration, topics or outcomes does not count, and neither does deleting something. Hover the row for the modules never checked, with new artifacts, or left out of the course export (a module left out of the export is not checked).

Fixes you make in the Fix Workbench keep a module checked — they are the check's own result.

Undoing fixes. Before the Fix Workbench first changes a course file, it keeps a copy of the file as it was, in the check's own folder (before-fixes, never in the course itself). To put a file back, select it in the workbench and click ↩ Restore Original…; ↩ Restore All Originals… does it for every fixed file at once. Both ask first. The fixes made to the file are undone and the item is checked again, so its row shows what is really in the file. The kept copy stays, so you can fix and restore again later. Restore Original is greyed out when nothing has changed the file, or when the file was fixed before CourseBuilder+ kept copies. Captions or transcript files a fix added beside a page are not removed.

A fix run on an LMS export you started before (a cartridge in Documents\PreseMaker\IMSCC) is still reachable: Check Accessibility… → Resume a cartridge fix….

To check a course exported from an LMS (a .imscc file from D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Moodle …), use Assessment+ (on the Microsoft Store as CIATLE-FCE until its next update).

Each check is recorded in the module's output folder as accessibility_check.json.
